Earth 2: Ocean Currents Carrying Whales

Artist Statement: Ocean Currents Carrying Whales

This globe explores the powerful ocean currents created by earth’s rotation and temperature changes of the water. The ocean’s movement is depicted through brush strokes and color. The swirling shades of gold to silver indicate the general direction and relative temperatures of the ocean currents (gold being warmer and silver being cooler).  Whales were added as a symbolic gesture of the life in these moving waters that transport them.
